Many people have asked me over the years, "Why don't you tell us about your spiritual background? Why don't you tell us about your Guru? Why don't you tell us about Babaji?"

Well, I often felt I wouldn't really know where to start. You see, I have actually been a very religious person right from when I was very young. I remember my mother teaching me the Gayatri Mantra "Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha" when I was just six or seven years old. I learned it from her, and I learned it well. We also had the tradition of regular prasad on Tuesdays, for Hanuman-ji. So, faith was always a part of my life.

However, when it came to Babaji initially, it wasn't that I didn't believe in divinity, but what I was told about him didn't quite go down well with me at first. People would tell me stories: "Babaji looks like a 500-year-old man," or "He is 5,000 years old," or "He looks like a child."

I used to think, "Where has the world gone? People are landing on the moon, and here you are sitting on the ground, chanting and burning ghee for a man whose age you don't even know?"

I was skeptical. I questioned it. This was despite the fact that my wife kept insisting I meet him. It was actually my wife’s family who discovered Babaji. My father-in-law, the Colonel, had gone through the Autobiography of a Yogi and was convinced that the Mahavatar Babaji mentioned in that book was indeed this Babaji.

My entire family followed him... my wife, my children, everyone. But I said, "No. Not me." I dismissed it as hocus-pocus.
That is how it began with resistance, but as you know, that is not where the story ends. I cannot tell you all of it in one go, but I promise you, I will continue this story.
