My Girlfriend Nadia

rkliberty.jpg

This photo was taken at the Silver Jubilee function of a Raj Kapoor film at the Liberty cinema in Bombay in 1953. With me are my grandmother, my grandfather and my girlfriend, Nadia Gamal, a belly dancer who I met in Ceylon and as we were in love we were to get married. Somehow things didn’t work out and she went back to Cairo and I resumed my work in films but with a sad heart. At that age, she was 17 and I was 22, it gets broken very easily and quite often. What would have been the state of affairs of the Shammi Kapoor family had I got married to her and settled down in Egypt as we planned?

The content on this site was originally created in the late 1990s by Shammi Kapoor himself and has been preserved in its original form to retain its authenticity. The redesign you see here was completed before Shammiji’s passing. Over time, different layouts and fonts were experimented with for comparison, and we continue to share those versions. Some additional sections like VIDEOS and CINEMA OF INDIA have been added for revenue generation for self-sustaining the website financially for hosting and domain as advised by Mr. Shammi Kapoor.

Every element of this site including the banners, images and font were personally chosen by Shammi Kapoor himself. He decided to update the original design when it became incompatible with newer devices and screen resolutions.
